Can Vegetarian have Diabetes?
I mean by eating a bunch of fried veggies and diary foods, they can have it right?
ANYONE can have Diabetes . Diabetes Is caused by a part of your body (the pancreas) failing. Diabetes is NOT caused by the foods you eat.
While vegetarians tend to be thinner than other people, they are also often less healthy due to the limited amount of other nutrioents they get. Fact is, vitamin and mineral supplements do NOT do a good job of replacing the things that would be taken naturally, such as the iron and protein in red meat, and elemental minerals like calcium, phosphorus, magnesium, etc.
So it is quite possible that a vegetarin could be missing some important nutrients, nutrients necessary fo healthy pancreas functions. Now, IF that person was already prone to pancreatic failure (Type 1 Diabetes) through heredity, then a vegatarian diet might very well “set it off”.
